Position overview
Position title: Otolaryngology Research Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $86,500-$228,600. Salary is negotiated annually. Position description


The Department of Otolaryngology (oto.ucsd.edu) at University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is actively seeking candidates with a strong commitment to program development, performing university and community service, and developing an equitable and diverse scholarly environment for faculty position(s) in Otolaryngology Research.

The selected candidate(s) will lead a research program focused on the basic science of hearing and ear disorders. The selected candidates(s) will participate in graduate student, medical student and resident research projects, and teaching and collaboration with existing research faculty. If appropriate, there may be opportunities to engage with our partner programs including the San Diego State University/University of California San Diego Joint AuD Program.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Additional information can be found here:

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have a PhD or a MD/PhD in health-related fields, or a MD or equivalent.

Candidates must have a record of independence as a Principal Investigator with a track record of obtaining extramural funding of research related to hearing science.

Candidates must also have a track record of teaching, mentoring and/or training activities.

Preferred qualifications
Candidates with an extensive record of investigation in hearing science are preferred.
