About the Role:

Wood Rodgers is hiring a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical Department in Reno, Nevada. As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll develop and maintain client relationships and work with clients to get their projects completed on time and within budget. You will work with limited direction with an engaged team focused on finding creative solutions to complex geotechnical problems for a wide variety of clients and projects. Typical projects include residential, commercial, industrial, and public works.  

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain internal and external client relationships, including project and non-project related face-to-face meetings.
• Pursue additional business development opportunities.
• Lead a technical team of staff engineers.
• Prepare proposals for moderate to complex geotechnical projects.
• Develop and execute services and analyses indicated in the project scope.
• Perform engineering analysis using company and industry methodologies and standards.
• Provide work direction and training for engineering staff in exploration, sampling, laboratory testing, analysis, and report writing.
• Prepare engineering reports providing professional opinions and reasonable geotechnical solutions including:
  • Formulating design recommendations for civil, commercial, and residential structures.
  • Providing recommendations for roadway rehabilitation and new structural pavement sections.
• Review of development plans for compliance with the project’s geotechnical report requirements.
• Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) during construction.
• Budget management and invoicing responsibilities.
• Other duties as assigned, potentially including forensic investigations, development and design of innovative solutions to unique problems and writing technical reports from scratch (i.e. not relying upon a master report or template). 

Education, Registration, and Experience:

• Master’s degree (MS) in Civil Engineering.
• Immediate potential for or registration as a Professional Engineer in Nevada and California.
• Ten or more years of experience in performing work as a geotechnical engineer.
• Project management and management of and developing client relationships.
• Managing and directing staff.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel etc.)
• Familiarity with software for assessing slope stability, liquefaction, pavement design, and deep foundations.

It is our expectation that the salary will be somewhere in the middle of this range.

This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential and can fluctuate above or below the posted range. If there is an offer, the salary presented will consider several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, and training. Base pay is just one piece of the compensation package offered by Wood Rodgers.
