Job description
Integrated Talent Strategies (ITS) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to work in the San Angelo, TX area. This position offers a variety of great benefits, including health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.
Job Summary: The Laboratory Technician performs a variety of independent, non-routine, and more complex quantitative analyses using sophisticated laboratory instrumentation. The Technician performs the preparation of oil samples prior to analysis and performs a variety of technical duties requiring limited independent analyses, organizing work, and learning to make analytical decisions based on quality control results and trends.
Responsibilities: - Receives samples for oil analysis and dissolved gas analysis, records their receipt in the log book, and stores samples as required.
- Follows established laboratory processes and procedures, performs analysis of laboratory data, and documents analysis results in Company’s equipment asset database.
- Performs with oversight a variety of duties of a technical nature requiring some independent analysis and exhibits fundamental understanding of lab procedures.
- Demonstrates competency in routine procedures and analytical techniques under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Understands and practices safe laboratory procedures. Performs all tasks in a safe manner, according to company policy.
- Demonstrates competencies required for accuracy and precision of analytical data for laboratory work.
- Develops an awareness of the relationships among sample turnaround time, sample load, and internal and external customer requirements.
- Understands the importance of recording and communicating unusual occurrences during the course of analytical methods and procedures.
- Ships and receives materials through pony express, UPS, and other carriers.
- Receives chemicals, compressed gas cylinders, and supplies. Records receipts and places in storage as required.
- Understands the operation, care, and maintenance of Laboratory test equipment.
- Disposes broken glassware, scrap sampling cans, sample oil, and other materials in accordance with Company Environmental requirements.
- Operates company automotive equipment during the pick-up and/or delivery of various samples, supplies, materials, etc., as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: - Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene or two year technical degree or equivalent education and experience.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Strong computer skills with competency in Microsoft Office.
