VDOT’s Fredericksburg District has exciting an opportunity available in the Fredericksburg Administrative Office. We are seeking qualified candidates to fill a Telecommunications Coordinator position. This position provides technical support to the district.

The selected candidate will:
• Support and assist the District's Information Technology Manager in providing end user support services.
• Provide problem management, troubleshooting, and escalations to resolve customer problems with wireless devices and VTC equipment.
• Provide administrative duties to include procurement, buyer for District IT and Administration Section through eVA to include electronic filing, order receiving, scheduling and inventory.
• Work with VITA, Wireless and landline providers, and internal IT staff ensuring problems are resolved in a timely manner.
• Provide administrative support the District IT Section to include billing and ordering review/submittal and annual audit of all wireless devices.
• Provide end user support, procurement, activation, end user technical support, training and detailed record keeping, to comply with VDOT mobile communications use memorandum.
• Provide support and training to district SharePoint users and wireless device users.
• Assist with creating training documentation for end user support and assistance for wireless devices.
• Provide technical support with VTC and AV connections, troubleshooting and scheduling.

• Skill in training users on equipment and use of systems.

• Ability to troubleshoot wireless devices and VTC equipment and communicate solutions to customers.
• Ability to research and analyze data, form conclusions and create reports and programmatic materials.
• Skill in the use of troubleshooting tools and managing wireless devices.
• Knowledge of project and time management techniques.
• Knowledge of customer service processes, procedures and practices.
• Skill in the delivery of exemplary customer service.
• Ability to set clear objectives and measures and to monitor process, progress and results.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to gather, analyze data and prepare reports.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working and interpersonal relationships with all district users.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with individuals and groups.
• Ability to exercise judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly.
• Determine when to refer problems to the supervisor or next level of support.
• Skill in the use of computers and Microsoft Office (Windows, SharePoint, Outlook, Exchange, and MS Office Suite).
• Ability to prioritize, organize multiple demands in a continuously changing environment and meet established deadlines.
• Skill in the use of troubleshooting tools, managing and administering wireless devices.
• Capability to work with minimum supervision and act as lead when the need arises.

Additional Considerations

• Experience with Microsoft Office, wireless devices (mobile phones, MIFIs, iPads), landlines (UCass, VOIP, VCE) and VTC equipment.
• A combination of training, experience, or education in Telecommunications, Information Systems or related field desired.
