Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist to work with our company located in Rapid City, South Dakota. We serve the schools and early intervention services on the Pine Ridge Reservation but compensate for travel time as well as providing a car or car pooling to use to and from the location. Our clinic is located in Rapid City and we proudly serve the local and surrounding communities.

We have a position for full time school based Speech Therapist.
We are starting our process to hire with an anticipated start time not till August 2021. Therefore New Graduates or Clinical Fellow (CF-SLP) applicants are welcome to apply and would be provided with supervision.

Job Description

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for identifying students with communication disabilities, planning and implementing appropriate treatment to minimize adverse impact on student success, and recommending treatment plans.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assesses students communication skills (e.g., articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, etc.) for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for treatment.

Collaborates with a variety of groups (e.g., parents, teachers, administration) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues and providing services in compliance with established guidelines.

Develops treatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of communication disorder with regulatory requirements.

Interprets medical reports within the scope of Speech/Language Pathologists experience and goals for the purpose of providing information and/or ensuring that treatment/intervention plans are appropriate.

Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g., training, grade and team level meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the position.

Provides speech and language therapy to students for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on student success.

Researches resources and methods (e.g., intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing students needs.

Responds to inquiries (e.g. parents, teachers, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or referral as appropriate.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and understanding of working with children with impairments and/or disabilities

Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:

Applying assessment instruments
Operating standard office equipment including pertinent computer software
Preparing and maintaining accurate records
Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the position include:

Anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing mechanisms and disorders
Principles of speech and language therapy
Pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws
Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the function of the position include:
Adapting to changing work priorities
Maintaining confidentially
Meeting deadlines and schedules
Working as part of a team
Working with detailed information/data
Maintaining effective working relationships
Translating therapy data into meaningful educational activities

Education :
Masters Degree in Speech/Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders Certificates & Licenses

South Dakota License in Speech/Language Pathology

Certificate of Clinical Competence (C.C.C.) - a plus!

New graduates and Clinical Fellow (CF-SLP) applicants are welcome to apply and would be provided with supervision.
