Job description

REPORTS TO : Manager Billing/COBRA/Flex Accounting LOCATION : Allegiance office or off-site FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position supports the billing function and the accounting function of Allegiance. In regards to Billing they assist in the monthly billing cycle to prepare health groups' billing and premium statements on a monthly basis, which will facilitate payment of fixed costs. The incumbent will assist in the accounting functions that would include posting of COBRA payments and monthly invoice cycle, as well as Health and Flex Accounting process.

The incumbent is expected to communicate professionally with peers, supervisors, subordinates, vendors, customers, and the public, contribute to the daily workflow with regular and punctual attendance, and to be respectful and courteous in the conduct of this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Essential job functions include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.

Billing

1. Assists in the monthly health billing statements for client groups.

2. Verifies the accuracy of enrollment information for each group billed.

3. Follows specific group billing instructions and able to force system enrollment adjustments.

4. Works with Billing Specialists to work through complex questions or billing situations when they arise.

5. Attention to detail and able to multitask between other Accounting Department assignments.

6. Other duties as assigned.

COBRA Accounting

1. Posting of COBRA premium payments.

2. Create in the invoice creating for administration fees.

3. Respond and contact clients regarding invoices and past due amounts.

4. Assist COBRA Department in reporting processes.

5. Other duties as assigned.

Health Accounting

1. Perform month end bank reconciliation reports to ensure accurate ledger balances.

2. Prepare and distribute AP check cutting with proper documentation for support and approval.

3. Other duties as assigned.

4. Ability to multi-task.

6. Problems solving abilities.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education: High school graduation or GED required.

Certification(s) Required: None at this time.

Minimum Experience: Experience with computers required. Accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.

Other Qualifications:

▪ Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

▪ PC skills, including Windows, Word, basic Excel, internet and email applications. Must be able to adapt to software changes as they occur.

▪ Ability to learn all functions of the claims processing software program as is necessary for related job functions and adapt to software changes as they occur.

▪ Ability to enter data with accuracy and precision.

▪ Basic mathematical skills.

▪ High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

▪ Ability to organize and recall large amounts of information including interactions with employees, agents, plan participants and clients.

▪ Ability to project a professional image and positive attitude in any work environment.

▪ Ability to comply with privacy and confidentiality standards.

▪ Ability to analyze and solve problems with professionalism and patience, and to exercise good judgment when making decisions.

▪ Ability to operate typical office equipment.

▪ Working knowledge of general office procedures.
