TalentSource360 is assisting another client in their search for a core member of their Accounting team. We are seeking a Senior Technical Accountant with proven expertise in lease accounting to join this growing team. This growth opportunity will take on lease accounting guidance on behalf of our corporate accounting team for a robust portfolio of real estate and equipment leases. In addition, he/she will support various corporate accounting functions related to the monthly/quarterly close and reporting.

Position details:

• Title: Senior Accountant (Lease Accounting)
• Office Location: Fairfax, VA
• Schedule: 2/3 (Average 2 days in office per week)
• Compensation: $95,000 – $105,000 + bonus

Responsibilities:

• This role requires a deep understanding of lease accounting standards, the ability to interpret and apply those standards to our financial processes, and the skills to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Lead the implementation, maintenance, and review of lease accounting under ASC 842, including the development and execution of internal controls and policies.
• Perform detailed analysis and prepare technical accounting memos on lease transactions, including classification, recognition, and measurement of right-of-use assets and lease liabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all lease transactions in the financial statements.
• Provide expert guidance on the accounting treatment and financial impact of complex lease arrangements.
• Assist in the preparation and review of financial statement disclosures related to leases.
• Keep abreast of changes in lease accounting standards and evaluate the impact of new regulatory requirements.
• Support external and internal audit processes related to lease accounting.
• Train and mentor junior staff on lease accounting principles and practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or equivalent is highly preferred.
• 4-6 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years focused on lease accounting under ASC 842.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP
• Experience with financial reporting and internal controls
• Proficient in the use of lease accounting software and Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the skill to explain complex accounting topics to non-specialists.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple priorities with attention to detail and deadlines.
