Job description
The Project Delivery Manager (PDM) plays an integral role in leading the company’s project management teams in successfully executing the construction management process including safety, quality, production, and project budget oversight. This position works closely with the leaders of the various engineering, operations, sourcing and business development functions to successfully support the GSI businesses through executing projects safely, on time, on budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
- Mentorship and Oversight of Assigned Project Manager(s) (PMs)
- Support the development of assigned PM team through mentorship of project management principles (budgeting, scheduling, earned value management, etc.) and supporting career growth.
- Drive and manage PM Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Personal Performance Factors (PPFs).
- Conduct consistent and regular 1 on1s with assigned PMs, and providing development planning, training, and performance management.
- Provide guidance to PMs to contract reviews in a manner that ensures all contract conditions are planned for, budgeted, communicated, and achieved.
- Provide support and guidance to PMs in developing execution plans work breakdown structures, and accurate project budgets.
- Support PMs in subcontract agreement negotiation, processing, dispute resolution, and execution.
- Ensure PM project schedules are maintained and communicated to appropriate stakeholders.
- Financial Management
- Responsible for financial performance of assigned PM team.
- Manage team KPIs for preparing and submitting required billings accurately and timely.
- Track and support collections efforts and related KPIs working to minimize past due billings and increase working capital.
- Review/Analyze weekly Work in Progress (WIP) reports to understand and report financial project health with project teams and leadership.
- Review and pressure test PM project financial projections
- Reinforce the company escalation process to notify stakeholders of potential negative financial impacts and initiate/lead recovery planning, root cause analysis, and countermeasures.
- Based on project need, prioritize, and strategically make site visits to support PMs, client relations, project recovery efforts, and project closeout activities.
- Supporting PMs in Client Management
- Review and oversee required project documentation to avoid claims and protect the best interests of GSI.
- Assist with pricing, presentation and client negotiations for project change orders as needed.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with all customers, internal and external.
- Market GSI to clients and be on the look-out for new opportunities.
- Process Improvement
- Initiate and support the improvement of company processes and procedures for the betterment of the greater project delivery team and organization.
- Support PM during Post-Construction Debrief Meetings
- Lead problem-solving initiatives for problems raised within your region. Support problem-solving initiatives from other PDMs and from other functions.
- Build cross-functional support for process improvements.
- Promote and model lean process development, execution, and sustainment leveraging lean tools such as daily/visual management, standard work, 5S and problem-solving.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. Majors in Engineering, Geology or Construction Management preferred, but not required.
- Prior leadership and people management experience.
- 8+ years related field and project management experience. Management of GCS, Soil Nail, and HBSN projects preferred.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills required.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret, technical procedures, or government regulations.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers/clients.
- Ability to develop and interpret project budgets and P&L statements.
- Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling techniques and working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or Primavera scheduling software.
- Experienced with LEAN approaches to process improvements and problem solving.
- High level of expertise and knowledge in Microsoft Excel.
