This role reports into the Director of Category Management – Mass Channel and will additionally have responsibility for working cross functionally with key stakeholders. This individual will champion a culture of teamwork across the broader Sales, Sales Strategy, Category Management, Shopper Marketing, and Insights teams, helping accelerate the development of a high performing team.
The Manager Category Development - Target is a customer facing role responsible for driving thought leadership with actionable and compelling shopper and category insights.
Customer-Facing Category Management and Strategy - bring the Target buyer category analytics and insights to identify category growth opportunities for the retailer.
Sales Team collaboration - partner with the Sanofi Target Sales team to provide category insight, identify growth opportunities and/or competitive threats, understand share shifts and shopper trends.
Ability to define and present actionable omni strategies that deliver category sales and share growth at Target.
Delivering best in class insights that unlock customer opportunities through compelling story telling by leveraging a broad range of data sources such as Numerator and Circana
Identify opportunities to engage in custom shopper research to help understand in-market performance drivers, shopper decision making and the development of aisle and category solutions.
Translate category growth strategies into tactical recommendations through AMPS that influence the retailer to take action.
Develop strong working relationships with retail buyers independently of, and in partnership with NAMs in support of key customer initiatives.
Perform competitive assessments and analysis for categories - share shifts, what’s working/not working across competitive retailers.
Anticipate and respond to customer and sales team needs initiating appropriate selling enhancement and/or defense plans to capitalize on market opportunities.
Leverage existing category management inventories, identify insight and data gaps, and help develop the next evolutions of category leadership opportunities.
B.A. / B.S. degree required.
5 + years of proven delivery in CPG with top and bottom-line results required. Excellent business acumen; proficient category and segment knowledge
Proven success in driving insights partnership with customers
Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking; ability to link strategies, objectives to develop compelling stories with actionable outcomes.
Strong thought leadership, oral and written communication with the ability to influence both internal teams and the customer.
Expertise with syndicated and retailer/loyalty data sources required. Experience with Circana and Numerator strongly preferred.
Experience in working on multi-disciplinary teams and/or a matrixed environment while managing large volume of projects.
Self-motivated and inspire others when facing highly ambiguous, complex situations.

The salary range for this position is $106,000 - $155,000 . In addition to sales incentive (role may my eligible for long term incentive depending on level and performance); all compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience.
