Job description
Summer Camp Assistant Director
Hurricane Aquatics (HA) is a year-round swim program that is comprised of 5 different swimming programs, including a summer swim camp. HA has a summer swim camp for swimmers who can dog paddle and float with a minimum of 5 yards and who want to spend the summer in and around the pool. The staff will work together to teach and refine freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke while integrating games and play. Campers range in age from 5-12 YO. Camp runs from June 3rd through August 2nd and operates during the week from 9:00-3:00. We are located in Coral Gables, FL, and have camp at the University of Miami.
Position/Compensation:
Reports to the Camp Director and then the Director of Operations
35-38 hours per week
Camp runs from June 3rd through August 2nd.
Previous swimming experience, a background in education, or child care experience is preferred
The rate of pay is $16.50+/hour based on experience and qualifications
Certifications current or able to acquire upon hiring:
CPR. First Aid (preferred)
Concussion Training (required - provided as staff training)
Level 2 background check
Duties:
Assist with swim instruction, and guide camp counselors to help improve swimmer technique.
Working knowledge/application of stroke technique and swimmer development
Oversee swimmers while moving from pool to lunch, crafts, etc
Work with swimmers on hydration and safety, as well as any other out-of-the-pool activities
Tasks related to swimmer tracking and lesson progression
Communication with parents at drop off/pick up
