About the Role & Team

As an Automation Engineer Intern, you will work on Walmart’s Innovation & Automation (I&A) team. I&A strives to maintain focus on what we are doing and why. We are focused on automating facilities with innovative technology for a regenerative future. Together we are delivering value and maximizing efficiency across supply chain to better quality and service to our customers.  

The I&A team consists of different segments, including Ambient, Grocery, Fulfillment, Acceleration & Support, End2End (E2E) Delivery, WM US Stores, and more. You will intern in one segment and be responsible for:

• Designing, implementing, and improving engineered solutions  
• Using an innovative and analytical mindset to transform processes   
• Performing industry research to identify new technology and industry partners 
• Identifying short-term and long-term opportunities within Walmart’s E2E Supply Chain 
• Working with cross-functional teams, utilizing your engineering and project management skills to identify opportunities, propose solutions, design systems and demonstrate financial impact  
• Managing vendor relationships and technology portfolios throughout the full product lifecycle including research & development, proof-of-concept testing, full-scale deployment, maintenance and KPI tracking 
• Contributing to the team’s strategy by developing business cases, writing white papers, and communicating findings at all levels of leadership 

About Our Summer 2025 Internship Program:

Each summer, we select the best and brightest to look under the hood of the world’s largest retailer at our Walmart & Sam’s Club Corporate Offices across multiple locations. During the 11-week program, our interns work directly with teams who are changing the way the world shops. This is the beginning of what could be an exciting career with Walmart!

Location: Bentonville, AR 

Desired Majors: I ndustrial & Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Supply Chain Management, and other relevant majors 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program currently

• Expected graduation date between December 2025-August 2026
