Job description

Job Description:

Littorai Wines is seeking motivated and passionate folks interested in learning all aspects of winegrowing during the 2024 Harvest.

We will produce approximately 6000 cases from some of the most highly regarded vineyards on the North Coast of California. The winemaking is based on traditional Burgundian models of barrel fermented Chardonnay and punch down Pinot noir with some retention of whole clusters. We grow and buy fruit from vineyards lying on the coastal edge of Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. All vineyards are either farmed organically or biodynamically.

The dates of the 2024 internship will be approximately August 1st – November 15th. Your primary responsibility would be to assist with the physical winemaking and vineyard duties for Littorai with our full time Assistant Winemaker. Work may include but is not limited to: barrel and tank preparation, cleaning the press, basic lab analyses, punchdowns, pump overs, fork lift operation, truck driving, general sanitation, compost construction and data entry. Additionally, you may travel to vineyard sights to evaluate crop loads, to sample, and later, grape hauling.

We are careful to do an absolutely first class job and expect you to pay close attention to detail and to take some initiative. Consistent cellar work and vineyard work are very physically taxing activities. Be prepared to lift/move 50+ pound loads and be on your feet for 10+ hours per day, 6 days per week.

Applicants should have a minimum of 3 harvests under their belt, strong forklift skills, a positive attitude, work well with others and above all, uphold integrity. Applicants must have the right to work in the US, a valid drivers license and a reliable means of transportation. We do not offer housing at this time. This is a rare experience in the California wine industry to work for a family owned and operated winery committed to making wines with a sense of place that respect land they are grown upon. You will get to experience working closely with Ted Lemon, vines, compost, biodynamic preparations, and of course, wine.

Serious applicants can email a cover letter and resume to the email below.

Thanks.
