DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Project Kuiper is seeking a 2nd shift Manager to join the Kuiper Machine Shop to support production. This role will work closely with management to supervise a machining team that supports delivery of production hardware to satellite builds.

The individual will have strong leadership skills and be required to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment where communication and organization will be critical. This position will also utilize a variety of analytical tools as well as aid in creating a variety of standard operating procedures which they will help to draft and maintain. This will require supervisory duties as well as working as a machinist in the Machine Shop.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.

Key job responsibilities
- Supervise a team of CNC Machinists focused on early production and scaling output.
- Setup and operate 3, 4 and 5 axis machining centers
- Perform in process part inspection using micrometers, calipers, height gages and on machine probing
- Work with management to plan and coordinate daily tasks for technicians and activities of all operations with an ability to adapt to changing schedules and other dynamic priorities.
- Work cross-functionally with management, facilities, and supply chain to maintain operations and materials the Machine Shop
- Ability to provide timely feedback on designs, processes, and machining operations
- Author, maintain, and train others to all relevant process documentation, including Machine Operation, Setup, Safety Standards and Inspection Procedures.
- Review and approve rework to ensure accuracy and enforce traceability.
- Comply with all Company Policies including Health, Safety, and Environmental Regulations, Personal Protective Equipment Requirements, and Standard

A day in the life
A CNC Machining Manager will play a valuable part in ensuring machined parts are ready to be integrated on a satellite. You will have to be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and be able to multitask while still being able to produce high quality work.

You will be leading a group of Machinists expected to machine and deliver hardware at a high rate while maintaining quality. You will be tasked to constantly improve processes that will make impacts on the efficiency of the Machine Shop. You will also play a key role in the career growth of Machinists on your team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of machine shop experience operating CNC equipment (multi-axis mills, multi-axis lathes)
- 4+ years of experience with GD&T
- 4+ years in a management role
