Job description
Hennepin County Human Resources department is seeking a Workers' Compensation Medical Only Claim Adjuster to manage medical only claims for the Workers' Compensation unit. This position reports to the Workers' Compensation Manager.

Location and hours: This position is hybrid working primarily remote with some onsite work needed. The candidate will need to have the ability to report to county facilities, when requested. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. In this position, you will: - Provide customer service to both injured workers and internal customers by promptly responding to customer inquiries.
- Investigate and determine compensability for workers’ compensation medical only claims.
- Establish and manage medical treatment reserves and claim related data within the claim software application.
- Manage medical treatment with medical providers pursuant to the MN Workers’ Compensation Statutes and Rules, which includes timely approval of pending medical bills.
Need to have: - One of the following:
- Four or more years of experience in general administrative work related to the management of departmental/organizational operations in workers' compensation claims administration.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, public administration or other field appropriate to the position.
Nice to have: - Five or more years of experience managing medical only workers’ compensation claims.
- Workman’s compensation experience in a public sector organization.
- Experience:
- Working with workers’ compensation claims in the State of Minnesota.
- With FileHandler or other similar workers' compensation software.
- With CAMPUS system within the state of Minnesota.
- Knowledge of diversity and inclusion strategies with a focus on disparities reduction.
- Ability to run reports (financial data and loss runs) and interpret information, including approving and auditing invoices and records.
