Position Summary: Under supervision of the PI, the incumbent will assist with the implementation of research protocols for human subjects experimental/clinical research studies. The research lab conducts studies that investigate the interplay of nutrition and stress in pregnant women and the effects on gestational metabolism, pregnancy complications and maternal and infant health outcomes. The LVN will collect biological samples with IV catheter placement, blood draws and saliva sample collections from pregnant women at study visits. They will assist with biological sample processing, storage, and shipments. They will follow directions to assist with participant medical records screening, recruitment, and enrollment to research studies as well as data collection through standard surveys and interviews
Compensation Range: $26.45/hr - $32.86/hr
Department Website: Required: - Must possess CA LVN license.
- Must possess BLS certification.
- Certification for IV catheter placement and blood draw collection.
- English fluency.
- Organized and able to set task priorities
- Handling biological specimens.
- Data abstraction from medical records
Preferred: - Spanish fluency.
- Human Subjects recruitment.
- Experience with pregnant women.
Special Conditions Required: Work schedule may vary on a weekly basis according to study demands and schedule of participant visits. Candidates may be required to work some Saturday mornings due to participant visit requirements. Where Saturday work is required, midweek work schedule will be adjusted as appropriate. Driving license and own car required to visit UCI Health clinics off the main campus for participant recruitment purposes. Final candidate subject to background check.
