Senior Manufacturing Manager

Work Mode: Onsite

Opportunity

As Kohler Co. Senior Manufacturing Manager, you will take ownership of implementing the manufacturing strategy and consistently show strong performance of daily operations. As the Manufacturing Manager, you will also be responsible for developing the people, processes, and equipment necessary to efficiently produce products that meet quality standards and provide on-time delivery at competitive costs. In this role, you will utilize lean manufacturing principles to coordinate process assessment, control, and continuous improvement in both the manufacturing area and with any related support systems. You will also drive Kohler Operating System ( KOS ) deployment through training and participation in robust process improvement methods, process standardization, and the development or use of quality systems and tools. Lastly, as the Manufacturing Manager, you will continuously drive cost reductions by utilizing process improvement techniques, redesign methodologies, and quality improvements.

Specific Responsibilities

- Collaborate with the Plant Manager to set strategic goals and vision for the site, as well as short and long-term production goals.

- Lead all manufacturing operations in a manner that builds trust, drives continuous improvement, meets high standards, and exceeds customer expectations.

- Continuously monitor and analyze production performance as compared to defect and cost objectives and major expenditures.

- Direct corrective changes within scope of your authority and recommend modifications and/or changes as necessary and reasonable to maintain optimum efficiency.

- Define manufacturing processes and objectives through scrap and cost reduction efforts and Kohler Operating Systems ( KOS ) activities.

- Drive key measurements for the facility that are quantifiable and measurable and for which strategic performance is measured against; monitor results to make sure continuous improvements are maintained and benefits are sustainable over the long term.

- Maintain operating records necessary to control and analyze activities.

- Monitor developments within the manufacturing industry by conducting research and development on new manufacturing processes and procedures.

- Establish and maintain relationships with management and/or process owners for the purpose of aligning objectives and removing obstacles for process implementation.

- Effectively communicate and interact with manufacturing personnel, first line supervision, and all other levels of plant and division management, customers, and vendors as part of a team-based organization

- Facilitate and lead Kaizen events to drive improvement activities and ongoing training and development.

- Develop, lead, and drive a Continuous Improvement Strategy through application of Lean Manufacturing tools (5S, SMED , Error Proofing, Flow, Pull, TPM , Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen) to achieve or exceed the facility plan.

- Drive adoption of best practices developed by Lean and Six Sigma teams across the organization.

- Collaborate with area managers on the determination of materials, space, equipment, and personnel needs as well as the development and implementation of processes, procedures, assignment, and execution of functional responsibilities, and determination of budget and costs constraints.

- Seek assistance of and cooperate with staff in solving problems and making manufacturing improvements.

Skills/Requirements

-A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Management, or related field is required.

-12+ years practical, technical, and management experience

-6+ years supervisory experience and moderate exposure to Materials Management, Production Scheduling, Purchasing, Quality Control, Industrial Engineering, and Accounting

-Previous experience with Kaizen, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing techniques is required.

-Previous experience overseeing a large department (150+ employees) is highly desired.

-Previous experience working on a greenfield manufacturing project is highly desired.

-Strategic thinking, proactive leadership, good judgment, and the curiosity to identify and solve business problems and develop business plans to support growth and delight the customer.

-An ability to embrace and utilize ever-changing technologies.

-The ability to travel, on occasion, for training and business purposes.

The salary range for this position is $128,000 – $164,550. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
