- Oversee administration, installation and maintenance of the Company’s non-iSeries computer and network assets, including server and related hardware, operating system software, third-party application software, data, and interfaces to other systems. This includes administration of software patches and software version updates.
- Maintain application and operating system configurations and user accounts and privileges, both within the Microsoft Active Directory environment and within individual software applications.
- Plan, document, implement and maintain system security procedures and practices to safeguard the Company’s vital data against unauthorized access, tampering, or destruction.
- Plan, document, implement and maintain system data backup procedures and practices including tape rotation schedules, offsite storage, and regular testing of backup media.
- Monitor High-Availability environments for certain systems, including daily and weekly checks as well as routine testing of backup system / duty cycle rotation of systems.
- In coordination with I.T. Director and other I.T. employees, plan, document, implement and maintain the Disaster Recovery Plan, including routine testing/practice of DR Plan procedures.
- Monitor system and application performance. Recommend and implement performance tuning (optimization) strategies as well as capacity planning for growth or changes in business needs, and planning for life-cycle replacement of assets.
- Analyze and recommend creation or changes to department procedures or policies to demonstrate and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards including Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Maine gaming laws/Maine Gambling Control Board regulations, Internal Control documents and I.T. industry-standard “Best Practices.”
- Receive, record, resolve and follow up on end-user problems or system malfunctions. Maintain records of problem reports, resolution and follow-up in the I.T. helpdesk software application.
- Work with other I.T. staff in first-level or second-level support of many systems or services, including wide-ranging general I.T. support issues.
- Stay informed on new technologies with a view towards integrating them into the Company’s I.T. strategies.
- Demonstrate expertise in a variety of I.T. concepts, practices and procedures. Plan and accomplish goals relying on extensive experience and best judgment.
- May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be a top-level contributor / specialist. A large degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Technical Degree in Computer Sciences is preferred,
- Equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered.
- Three plus years of work related experience in Microsoft Windows Server operations and administration, with relevant technical certifications, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. Microsoft certification is preferred.
- Two plus years of work related experience in Microsoft Active Directory administration as well as Microsoft Exchange Server administration is required. Microsoft certification is preferred.
- Two plus years of work related experience in supporting end-users of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and Access) is required.
- Additional demonstrable knowledge or experience in other I.T. related areas is preferred, such as IBM iSeries operations; Microsoft SQL Server; Virtualization technologies (VMware); Cisco IP networks; converged voice/data networks (VOIP).
- Proficiency in Visual Basic, C++, Java, ASP, HTML and other development technologies is preferred.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are required.
- Must be a highly motivated self starter who is eager to contribute to overall departmental and company success.
- Must be willing to share night-and-weekend on-call duty as part of the I.T. department team.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must qualify for licensure with the Maine Gambling Control Board.
- Must have clean/valid driver's license.
