POSITION SCOPE
The Trucking Supervisor will be responsible for driver timecard approval/submission, monitoring, and evaluating driver performance. Responsibility includes achieving the goals of the department, satisfying the customer, and supervising the Dump Truck Division. Supervisor is responsible for DOT compliance including, but not limited to Hours of Service, Random Drug and Alcohol Testing and safety compliance.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Making sure that all drivers are trained on proper completion of paperwork, delivery procedures, and clock-in/clock-out policies
- Observing that all shipments are handled properly and trucks are empty when they are parked
- Complete paperwork on drivers: reports and records, evaluate personnel, corrective actions, records on drivers' equipment
- Ensure that all drivers are properly trained on all pre-trip and post-trip procedures; drivers are made aware to report any problems at check-in and check-out directly to their supervisor
- Scheduling trucks for repairs as well as regular maintenance
- Make sure all drivers are trained on how to report an accident and all personnel have the proper safety equipment and are familiar with the proper use of PPE
- Inspect trucks regularly and keep a log of any damages, address vehicles needing maintenance
- Perform onsite delivery coordination; through CB and company radio directs drivers on entry/exit points on sites, delivery location/drop off, and is there for assistance with any situations that may arise
- Make sure trucks are properly maintained by drivers; cleanliness of beds and interior
- Make sure everything within your scope of responsibilities is completed daily prior to departure
- Work closely with other departments to assure customer service is provided the most efficient methods
- Responsible for the monitoring of the driver's daily hours of service
- Safety, Safety, Safety comply with all DOT and company policies, procedures, and standards of safety
- Extended out of town travel/work may be required
- Other duties may be assigned
BACKGROUND
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement or the ability to acquire endorsement is required
- Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate is required
- 5 years of commercial driving experience is required
- Asphalt paving experience is required
- Previous Truck Supervisor/Truck Boss experience is preferred
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, standards, methods and practices related to DOT is required
- Advanced skills in Excel and software applications related to DOT principles record keeping is required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds is required
- Acceptable MVR in accordance with Fisher's Company Vehicle Program policy is required
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test is required
