Full-time: Noc 8hrs Sun-Thurs

Day 12hrs Sat-Mon

or

Part-time: Day 12hrs Sat-Sun

Position Summary:

 

Nursing Assistants provide direct care to community residents. This includes assisting with any ADLs as they are written in care plans, communicating any changes in condition to the Shift Supervisor/Med-Tech or nurse, documenting any notable events, serving meals, dishes after meals and minor housekeeping. Nursing Assistants are expected to arrive as scheduled and finish all shift tasks in a timely manor in addition to resident requested tasks and tasks assigned by supervisory staff. 

 

Reports to : Health Services Director

 

Position Responsibilities :

 

  1. Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for Resident.
  2. Receives and gives report from the previous shift.
  3. Reviews assignments with Shift Supervisor/Med-Tech.
  4. Reads the staff communication records and maintains familiarity with Resident records as required.
  5. Assists with orientation of new staff to job responsibilities.
  6. Assists with instrumental activities of daily living, ADL’s, environmental orientation, assistance with other care while encouraging self-care and independence.
  7. Assists with setting up, serving meals, and cleaning up afterwards.
  8. Provides services as indicated on Resident service plans, including but not limited to bathing assistance, toileting assistance, transfer, and mobility assistance.
  9. Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures.
  10. Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for Residents, staff, and visitors, including housekeeping services for Residents.
  11. Observes problems, concerns, and issues with Resident units, the building, and the grounds and communicates them appropriately.
  12. Observes changes in Resident status, needs, or preferences and communicates them appropriately.
  13. Observes other problems and communicates them appropriately.
  14. Observes all work, safety, and administrative rules.
  15. Adheres to all established policies and procedures.
  16. Records Resident information as required..
  17. Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work, safety, and other emergency situations.
  18. Assists with individual Resident and group social recreational activities.
  19. Notifies nurse, and/or designated agent(s) of Resident status/change as appropriate.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Employment Requirements:

 

  1. Willingness to adhere to assisted living principles in providing services.
  2. Ability/willingness to perform all position responsibilities adequately.
  3. Keeps all information confidential.
  4. Maintains acceptable attendance record/follows work schedule.
  5. Displays cleanliness, good grooming, personal appearance and follows dress requirements consistently.
  6. Organizes and utilizes time appropriately toward accomplishing assigned tasks; requires minimal supervision.
  7. Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action.
  8. Interacts in professional manner with Residents, public and co-workers. Works cooperatively with management. Displays willingness to assist co-workers when situation requires.
  9. Adequate and clear English speaking and writing ability; able to communicate effectively.
  10. Ability to spend long periods on feet and to ambulate quickly.
  11. Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.
  12. Ability/willingness to follow all policies and procedures.
  13. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; 35 pounds regularly.
  14. Routinely requires pushing, pulling, bending, walking, reaching, and stooping.

 

Training and Experience:

 

18 – 24 months experience in a similar position, CPR/First Aid certified preferred.

 

Education:

 

Highschool diploma or equivalent. Attendance at mandatory in-service training. Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. Meet in-service training hours required for job classification and position.
