Seeking a Data Analyst for an opportunity in Columbia, SC. Candidates must be eligible to earn a low-level US security clearance.
Work arrangement:
- Hybrid, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays onsite

- Must be eligible to earn a low-level US security clearance, which requires a thorough background search and US citizenship.
Summary: - The Lead Data Analyst supports daily, weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports for end users and management use in performance monitoring and decision making.
- The Data Analyst also works with other areas in the department and supporting other departments creating or updating reports/dashboards to meet business needs.
- The Data Analyst advises management on best practices when developing or updating reports and creates/maintains procedures/instructions related to report design and execution.

Job/class description: - Serves in a lead capacity as an expert data analyst and may also lead a team. Creates and analyzes reports to support operations. Presents report findings in a concise manner to appropriate management level. Directly responsible for accuracy of data as financial and operational decisions are made based on the data provided.
- Reviews, extracts and analyzes data to be used in formulation of procedures, processes and other requirements, including data integrity and quality control. Provides reports of relevant activity to be used to identify problematic areas and data anomalies, in order to provide basis for modification and/or elimination of operations issues. Revises existing reports and develops new reports based on changing methodologies. Analyzes reports to ensure accuracy and quality. Tracks and verifies all reporting statistics and/or metrics.
- Develops complex analysis and sophisticated data compilation, verification, and interpretations to guide divisional efforts. Creates data tools used to identify/modify pertinent data needed to provide supporting documentation for system or operational regulatory reporting.
- Communicates with and/or trains employees and managers on the complex database programs used to generate analytical data. Documents reporting procedures so other staff can run ad hoc reports independently. Designs, codes, and maintains complex database programs for the extraction and analysis of data to support financial and operational decisions.
- Monitors data for compliance with all applicable regulations, and communicates and updates data as necessary. Provide assistance throughout internal and external audits.

- Proven experience with report writing and technical requirements analysis, data and business process modeling/mapping, and methodology development.
- Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Knowledge of the healthcare delivery system.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of programming languages across various software platforms, using DB2, SQL, and/or relational databases.
- Knowledge of tools such as Visual Basic and Macros useful in automating reporting processes.
- Communication skills: the ability to translate what the data means and to various audiences.
- Attention to detail: as the output and analysis delivered will be used to make organizational and management decisions driving strategy and future initiatives, excellence in finished product is necessary.
- Creative thinking: being able to identify the best way to report or deliver information so it is digestible and easily consumable.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities: - Computer programming skills.
- Negotiation or persuasion skills.
- Knowledge of ICD9/CPT4 coding.
- SAS experience.
Work environment: - This person is the primary reporting SME for the Commercial PMO department.
- Other department team members run reports as knowledge and backup practice; however, the Lead Data Analyst is the sole report development expert.
- The role reports to a Commercial Application Development Manager where "reporting" is one of many specialties they are responsible for.
- The person will work with other areas and their reporting analysis on an as-needed basis to share knowledge and processes, etc.
- The person will also be tasked to support Senior Management within the department on occasion.
