Job Summary
The Director of Asphalt Performance is functionally responsible for overseeing all operations in relation to asphalt production over our 80+ production sites. This includes overseeing the development of new sites, the review of operational and capital expenditures, analyzing annual budgets, monthly P&L review, and the implementation and standardization of processes.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead short and long-term strategic planning and decision-making with respect to all aspects of asphalt production
- Implement our vision and mission statements
- Maintain proper communication with Colas SA, our Colas US executive committee and our subsidiaries
- Manage a team of functional reports
- Work effectively within a matrix organization utilizing peers and their teams to execute projects
- Continuously improving quality, production costs, and efficiencies to better serve our customers
- Review and provide input on Capex projects
- Lead transversal projects in our decentralized operations (Colas 6S, KPI implementation and use, etc)
- Present vital information to senior staff in board and strategic meetings
- Compiles market intelligence data
- Help develop marketing and sales strategies in coordination the Director of Sales and Marketing
- Play a key role in talent development (training/succession planning) and hiring
- Perform periodic site visits and audits of subsidiary level performance
- Develop and maintain computerized files relative to all areas of responsibility
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
• BS Degree or equivalent experience required
• Must have at least five (5) years of experience in asphalt business management
Skills
• Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment
• Needs to be comfortable leading change through influence
• Must be proficient in PC use, Microsoft Office, word processing, and spreadsheets
• Ability to present and work with database software is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task
Will be required to travel (Auto/Air) on a frequent basis, potentially >60%
