Job description

The Character Documentation Specialist is responsible for the creation and maintenance of written and visual costume documentation materials used to sustain the quality, integrity, and overall operational use of Character costumes worldwide. This role is accountable for ensuring that all applicable end users have access to accurate and consistent content, informed by Subject Matter Experts, that is continuously updated throughout the life of each Character.
This role will report to the Character Documentation Manager.
Develop applicable Character specific documentation materials supporting new Character development projects and general resource documents
Update, maintain, and audit existing documentation
Partner with business authorities to assemble documentation content
Assist in the collection of all supporting photo and video media content for to include in the documentation materials
Edit Character photos in support of Documentation and Performance Training Materials
Contribute to the maintenance of extensive visual and documentation archives
Support the content management and daily operation of our internal Character costume reference website serving all Partners worldwide
Research and provide current and historical Character information and/or resources to various Clients, Partners, and Team Members, as needed
Ability to work around all types of fibers, fabrics, and synthetic furs
2+ years of experience in live entertainment and/or entertainment costuming
1+ years of experience the Walt Disney Company and Disney Characters
Experience coordinating work with a keen eye on attention to detail
Experience crafting creative content layouts
Experience cataloging and tracking content and digital assets
Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis on Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
Experience with photo editing, word processing, page layout, formatting, templates, spreadsheets, and presentation programs
Experience handling pre-release confidential information
Experience prioritizing personal workload to meet tight deadlines
Experience in communication (both written and verbal) to all levels of partner
Ability to work in an environment where collaboration is key
Ability to work flexible hours including extended hours, weekends, and holidays
Ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time
3+ years of experience in live entertainment and/or entertainment costuming
Extensive experience with Disney Characters and/or Character costumes
Experience developing training materials
Ability to develop instructional resources for specific audiences
Experience of costumes and components and their various manufacturing techniques
Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis on Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Lightroom
Experience with graphic design with a strong understanding of design principles
Ability to find innovative solutions to improve efficiency, quality, and user experience
Multi-lingual (French, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, or Spanish)
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Advanced degree in Communications, English, Journalism or related fields is preferred
