JOB SUMMARY
The Perioperative Nurse Educator is a registered professional nurse who has the expertise in both the Perioperative clinical setting and nursing professional development and education
Experience for this role includes an in-depth understanding and management of a wide scope of surgical patients i,e, general surgery, robotics, neurosurgery, gynecological, orthopedic, cardiac, trauma
The Perioperative Nurse Educator must have an in-depth understanding of the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards of Practice and the Association of Peri-Operative Nursing Standards
She/he is a member of the Nursing Leadership team and supports the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values, and actively participates in the shared governance process
She/he is responsible and accountable for the development and application of the Standards of Care and policies and procedures of Jersey City Medical Center-RWJBH, in an effort to enhance the quality of care provided to patients and families
The primary function is that of an educator, practitioner, consultant and change agent
Assesses data relevant to the learner's progress, and interprets the appropriate information necessary to develop group and individual learning plans
The Perioperative Nurse Educator is a clinical expert with abilities to foster the clinical development of the staff that she/he guides,
This individual will be responsible to assess the educational needs of the staff on an on-going basis and to serve as a resource/coach for the nursing staff, fellow educators, management, allied professional employees and other healthcare providers,
In addition to the aforementioned skills, the Perioperative Nurse Educator must possess clinical experience, training, and education aligned with their specialty practice area of focus,
The Perioperative Nurse Educator will assist in the onboarding, orientation and clinical practice evaluation of the RNs and professional employees in the OR, Ambulatory Care Center, and Labor and Delivery Operating Rooms
The Nurse Educator will participate in the Nurse Residency Program
The Nurse Educator may assist in other departments as clinically requested by Nursing leadership
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified applicants for this role need demonstrated clinical competency in the Perioperative environment consistent with the Association of peri-Operative Nursing Standards of Practice
The Nurse Educator may assist in other departments as clinically requested by nursing leadership
Demonstrated teaching ability required for the position
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current NJ RN licensure required
MSN or MSN-ED required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in specialty required
Experience in education or staff development required
Must have critical care experience
Clinical specialty CNOR required
Certification in Nursing Professional Development preferred
BLS and ACLS Required

$ 112,000 Minimum to $125,000 Maximum Annual Salary
