Job description
The Marketing Database Manager takes a lead role in supporting list generation, reports, and self-service tools by partnering with various internal cross-functional groups including Marketing, Strategy, Finance, Product and Sales Support. This position will manage a team of analysts and perform complex operational and financial analysis and reporting, business trending, competitive analysis, marketing analysis, overall customer/data analysis, and new product analysis, forecasting and budgeting.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
- Leads a team of data analysts in managing list operations while also providing the organization with accurate, timely, and actionable insight related to current and emerging market opportunities and supporting key data governance initiatives.
- Manages all aspects of lead-list generation including collaborating with cross-functional leaders to determine the targeting objectives, list hygiene, data formatting, and the timely delivery of lists that support both Enterprise and SMB business units.
- Leads architecting effort to grow GEMS marketing database to a national view to support product expansion.
- Supports and promotes Master Data Management strategies and principles for single source of truth, proper data hygiene and data governance.
- Acts as the advocate for the increased utilization of database marketing principals and platforms including Marketing Automation via Eloqua (i.e. adoption of a data-driven marketing culture).
- Keeps abreast of key industry and product trends, including both within database marketing and within the discipline of direct marketing in general.
- Utilizes all available and necessary database marketing tools and direct marketing disciplines, techniques and software solutions to create an enterprise-wide approach toward data-driven decision making.
- Defines the business use of marketing and location intelligence data shared across the enterprise and the relationships between those data elements.
- Performs data mining (including data auditing, aggregation, validation and reconciliation). Designs, develops and implements data mining tools and analyses to sift through large amounts of data stored in a data warehouse or data mart to find relationships and patterns.
- Proactively seeks clarification of requirements and direction; takes responsibility when needed.

Required Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, including customer analysis/modeling for product use
- In-depth modelling techniques and testing
- Ability to create and explain results in clear and concise reports
- Ability to be a dedicated and passionate advocate of the value of database marketing and data-driven decision making throughout the Charter organization
- Ability to identify analytical requirements for understanding shortfalls/excesses to appropriate marketing plans, campaigns, programs and initiatives
- Ability to maintain confidentiality (and honor all Charter customer privacy requirements)
- Honesty, business integrity and ethics
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
- Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and handle shifting priorities
- Ability to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties
- Ability to supervise and motivate others
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.) and strong working knowledge of key customer analysis tools and solutions
- Knowledge of program testing, tracking, profiling, targeting, metrics and analysis
- Advanced SQL skills
- Advanced understanding of database technologies and database structures
- Understanding of ETL processes and the “pushing and pulling” of data across various environments
- Well versed in multi-channel marketing strategies, including email, direct mail, telemarketing, web site and customer service channels
- Understanding of campaign delivery platforms
Required Education
- Bachelor´s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Management or related field

- SQL/Database marketing experience - 8-10
