Position: Social Media Manager (New Hampshire Publication)
We're currently seeking a dynamic Social Media Manager to join our team at Courier Newsroom. Reporting to the Head of Social/Deputy Social Editor, this role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in our digital presence.
Location:
While our team operates fully remotely, applicants must reside in New Hampshire and be available during EST business hours.
Responsibilities:
Publish content across all social media platforms for our specific publication.
Maintain consistency in voice and tone across all social channels.
Develop and execute growth strategies for social media engagement.
Collaborate closely with Civic Impact and Community teams on various projects.
Act as the primary source for digital reporting and sourcing during breaking news situations.
Devise and implement an overarching social media strategy, audience growth plan, content calendar, and measurement framework, with a focus on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
Drive traffic to our newsletter through engaging and informative social media posts, while liaising with other departments.
Provide insights to the editorial team regarding trends and optimal content packaging for maximum engagement.
Brainstorm and implement creative ideas for social distribution, including potential partnerships with influencers and other publishers.
Create social-first content to reach new audience segments and amplify our brand's voice.
Conduct A/B testing to optimize story packaging and enhance engagement.
Schedule and manage content produced in-house and by external creators.
Coordinate with reporters/editors to promote their stories effectively on social media.
Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate:
Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in the media industry.
Proficiency in English.
Hands-on experience (2-3 years) creating content for social media platforms for diverse audiences, particularly in a media outlet.
In-depth understanding of content creation protocols, social trends, and best practices for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Strong grasp of how content across various social channels can contribute to brand building and audience growth.
Familiarity with social media analytics tools and a solid understanding of engagement metrics and audience growth strategies.
Ability to make independent decisions and manage multiple projects effectively.
Interest or prior experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
Interest and/or relevant experience in journalism or the news industry.
