Ohio University seeks a dynamic Dean of the Ohio University Libraries who is prepared to lead a large library within a Carnegie R1 Research University through the rapidly evolving landscape of information literacy and technology in higher education. The Libraries collaborate with faculty, staff and students in building collections that support education, teaching, and research for the University. The Libraries also are leaders in providing students with https://www.ohio.edu/library/services/faculty/teaching-student-success/affordable-course-materials. The Libraries’ membership in https://www.ohio.edu/library/services/borrowing/ohiolink provides students, staff and faculty easy access to materials from 91 other academic libraries in the state of Ohio and immense electronic journal, ebook, and databases content. Incorporated in 1947 and formally organized in 1964, https://www.ohioswallow.com is the oldest scholarly publisher in Ohio. Since its founding, the press (including its trade imprint, Swallow Press) has become a leading publisher of books about Africa, Appalachia, Southeast Asia, and the Midwest, as well as on many other topics. The award-winning press publishes between 25 and 30 books a year. Distributed worldwide, its books are regularly covered by prominent national and international news and review media, countless academic journals, and a wide variety of literary and cultural outlets. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Provost, Dr. Elizabeth Sayrs, the new dean will serve as the Libraries' Chief Administrative Officer with overall responsibility for collection development and management; library services; budget and planning; application of emerging information technologies; personnel; fundraising, public relations; and state, national cooperative efforts. Engaging with campus leaders, faculty, students, and staff, the dean will create an innovative, forwarding-looking roadmap to ensure the Libraries are positioned to support the University's mission and emerging strategic plan. The dean will have experience shaping an organizational culture that encourages collaboration, engagement, and innovation. The ideal candidate will possess administrative, budgetary, fundraising, communication, and collaborative leadership skills including successful experience in a shared governance environment, as well as demonstrated experience advancing and supporting inclusion and accessibility.
