Work Schedule:

The preferred term for the internship is July 29, 2024 – May 16, 2025. Start date is flexible but must occur on or before August 7, 2023. Interns are expected to work 35 hours per week. Most work hours will occur Mon – Fri between 9am and 9pm. Occasional weekend hours will be required.The official work schedule will be negotiated with the immediate supervisor.

Hiring Range:

$13.50-$16.50 Hourly

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

Campus Recreation provides a diverse and intentional recreational program in a safe, inclusive, and accessible environment which enhances the social, mental, and physical well-being of the entire University community. With this mission as the focus, Campus Recreation maintains several facilities around campus to help students stay active. In addition to the Rams Head Recreation Center and the Student Recreation Center, there is an indoor and outdoor pool, a number of outdoor courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball and paddle tennis, and lighted fields for sport club practices/matches and team intramural sports. Students have about 50 sport clubs and more than 40 intramural sports for men’s, women’s, and co-rec teams; in addition to a variety of aquatic and fitness classes/programs, expeditions, challenge course and climbing.

Position Summary:

  • Assist with the administration and management of individual, dual, and team Intramural Sports activities.
  • Assist with the scheduling of leagues and tournaments, rules revisions, and program evaluations.
  • Assist with Sport Club program management, advisement, and organization.
  • Coordinate the management, supervision, scheduling, training, and evaluation of Sport Programs Staff. Oversee event operations and supervise staff at home events.
  • Assist with risk management initiatives and the implementation of risk management policies and procedures.
  • Teach American Red Cross First, CPR/AED classes to the university community upon completion of First Aid, CPR/AED instructor certification course.
  • Evening supervision of Intramural and Sport Clubs activities one day a week during the Fall and Spring semester.
  • Weekend supervision of Intramural and Sport Clubs activities one weekend a month during the Fall and Spring semester.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

•Officiating experience in football, basketball, soccer, or volleyball
•Experience at the collegiate level in the organization and administration of Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs programming
•Strong interpersonal communication skills, proven written and organization skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks
•Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
