Description: This person does not need to be local to Columbus. Can be anywhere in Ohio. Will be traveling 100% of the time. This position is seasonal where the firm will have temporary layoffs in the winter and will rehire in the spring
Seeking a Traveling Engineering Technician who will serve as a landfill construction quality assurance (CQA) and construction technician. This position will require travel and overnight stays including weekends, depending on job site location. As an Engineering Technician you will take direction from and work beneath Sr. level staff. Responsible for traveling to various landfills to perform on-site documentation/recording of daily activities and verifying that the work the general contractors are doing are accurate and correct, as well as soil testing to ensure it meets project specifications. This role can be trained and does not require prior experience. Must be comfortable living out of hotels for extended periods of time.
Responsibilities:
- Construction monitoring and documentation of construction activities at solid waste landfill facilities including field inspection and testing of soils and geosynthetic liners. On-site job training will be provided as necessary.
- Responsible for assuring overall compliance with all applicable project specifications and construction drawings.
- Good communication, writing, and organization skills necessary.
- Must be self starting and willing to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Soils laboratory coursework and interest/experience in construction is a definite plus.
- Travel is required with expenses covered for out of town assignments.
- Work could be 6-7 days per week with overtime anticipated during construction season.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
-Degree in geology, construction, engineering, or related; OR relevant construction or soil experience
-Ability/ willingness to travel full time and stay in hotels
-Construction experience preferred
-Soils testing experience a plus
-Ability to travel across Ohio and surrounding states
