Job description

The Visiting Researcher , for the Center for Discovery & Innovation (CDI) , under the direction of the Principal Investigator, will conduct specialized research and participate in the scientific investigations. This role will also be responsible for leading research projects, analyzing, interpreting and presenting the data. This role will play a critical role in conducting the studies of the assigned lab. This role is expected to understand the project and work independently taking responsibilities in the development and execution of experimental procedures to successfully advance each research project.

The  Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI) , was established by  Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH)as an academic basic and translational research enterprise to rapidly translate science innovation to the clinic to improve outcomes for patients with cancer, infectious diseases, autoimmune disease and other acute and chronic diseases. The CDI has grown rapidly since its origins in 2019, and now has 27 labs, 180 scientists and support personnel. Areas of expertise include genomics, epigenetics, drug resistance, stem cell biology, drug discovery, diagnostics and biomarker development, and pharmacology.

A day in the life of a Visiting Researcher, CDI at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

• Independently develops and performs in vitro and/or in vivo assays to support specific research projects as directed by the Principal Investigator.
• Assists in conducting a continuous program of research and development.
• Evaluates existing procedures and proposes modifications or changes in order to keep the methodology and procedures current.
• Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments. Compiles data and presents results.
• Records and analyzes data from experiments.
• Maintains a proper data notebook pursuant to the standards of the Department and the PI.
• Assists with coordination of translational and clinical research studies.
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
• Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :

• Bachelors Degree or higher in a scientific discipline
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms
