Summary
The Tasting Room Manager will develop, train, lead, and manage a team of 20+ tasting room associates, directly supervising day-to-day wine sales, wine club memberships, tastings, and culinary sales. The Manager’s mission is to reinforce the Eastwood Farm and Winery brand by delivering an exceptional experience for members and guests, resulting in strong sales, profit generation, long term engagement, and brand loyalty.
The Tasting Room Manager collaborates with the entire leadership team for Wine Club related business, Special & Private Events business, Weddings business, Festivals & Offsite Events, and more.
Compensation: Annual salary beginning at $55,000+ (commensurate with experience); further opportunities for the right person.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
LEADERSHIP
Provides direct leadership, direction, and motivation to associates to foster a productive, efficient and positive work and sales environment
Works alongside tasting room associates to provide direct supervision and model exemplary guest service (e.g. pouring wine, stocking, cleaning)
Educating guests on our wines, vineyards, and offerings
Hiring and training
Scheduling tasting room associates within approved budgets
Keeping tasting room associates informed about upcoming events
Manages and attends Wine Club and winery sponsored events
Attends weekly manager meetings
SAFETY AND STANDARDS
Understands and adheres to our company values and service standards
Ensures the safety of guests and associates by maintaining a clean, safe, and secure tasting room
Understands and complies with all federal, state, county, and municipal regulations pertaining to health standards and alcohol consumption
Understands and complies with all labor laws
Coordinates with staff and vendors to maintain a clean, presentable, friendly environment for associates and guests
Protects and monitors company property and inventory
Ensures new and existing associates are trained on and following all policies and procedures and is experienced in handling performance reviews and administering corrective action when needed
SALES EXPECTATIONS
Experience with P&L management
Directly responsible for implementing strategies to meet sales goal and increase revenue by selling wine, food, and club memberships
Works closely with Wine Club Manager, Special Events Manager, and General Manager to create promotions and incentives to maximize sales and profits
Develops relationships and trust with our wine club members
Assists in planning and is expected to execute tasting room events that exceed guest expectations
Manages tasting room inventory of goods and supplies including but not limited to glasses, wine, bags, and small wares. Order when necessary
ADMINISTRATION
Analyze and assist with payroll reports, sales team rankings and other reports as requested by upper management
Maintain professional communications on company sponsored platforms including 7shifts, gmail, company phones, etc
TECHNOLOGY
Computer proficiency with Excel, Word, G-Mail & Google Suite, POS System, inventory management systems, reservation system
Communicates with colleagues, vendors, employees, guests via email and phone in a professional and prompt manner
Monitors menu updates in the POS system and acts as a liaison on all POS issues in coordination with management
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
At least five years of sales and hospitality management experience, including experience managing teams of 10 or more
Prior experience managing a restaurant, hotel, or mid- to large-size winery or brewery preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to stand for long periods of time
Able to lift items up to 45 lbs (case of wine)
Able to work in all weather conditions
