POSITION TITLE: Estimator- Wet Utilities
PAY STATUS: Non-exempt
SUPERVISES :N/A
PAY RANGE : $160,000- $180,000
General Responsibility:
Heavy Civil Contractor seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator to join our team, specializing on projects related to: pipeline, water treatment plants, and pump stations. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in determining accurate cost estimates and bids for projects in the water infrastructure sector. Your attention to detail, analytical skills, and knowledge of construction practices will contribute to the successful execution of our projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in heavy civil construction and demonstrate expertise in estimating for pipeline, water treatment plants, and pump stations.
Significant Duties:
Analyze project specifications, drawings, and scope of work to understand project requirements and constraints.
Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs, including excavation, materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractor costs.
Prepare accurate cost estimates and bids based on project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain necessary information and evaluate potential cost-saving measures.
Research and gather up-to-date information on materials, equipment, and labor costs in the construction industry.
Create detailed cost breakdowns, including labor and equipment requirements, material quantities, subcontractor costs, and overhead expenses.
Evaluate project risks and develop contingency plans to address potential challenges or changes in scope.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and other project-related meetings as required.
Prepare and present cost estimates and proposals to clients, highlighting key factors and justifying the estimated costs.
Track and maintain accurate records of project bids, estimates, and related documentation.
Requirements/Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, with a focus on heavy civil construction, pipeline, water treatment plants, and pump stations.
Strong knowledge of construction practices, techniques, and materials related to water infrastructure projects.
Proficient in performing quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, and bid preparation using industry-standard software.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate cost calculations and bid proposals.
Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and technical drawings.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with project stakeholders.
Solid organizational and time management abilities to meet deadlines and prioritize workload.
Familiarity with relevant industry regulations, codes, and standards.
