About the Church

Good Shepherd is a vibrant and growing parish in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. Guided by one of their core values, Love is All, the clergy, staff, and congregation live out the love-ethic of Jesus as presented in the Sermon on the Mount in all ministries of the church. Good Shepherd is committed to equipping, empowering, and enabling our members to carry out the mission of the church.

About the Ministry

The Assistant Rector will oversee the pastoral ministries, including pastoral care visitors, Eucharistic visitors, meal ministry, card ministry, flower ministry, Holy Gophers, prayer shawls, cross quilt, backpacks, and Guild of the Christ Child. There are currently 30 volunteers involved within these ministries.

In addition, this role will help develop the expanding newcomer ministry to include greeters, a newcomers class, and new member assimilation.

The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this position, candidates must be ordained within the Episcopal Church. In addition, you also must uphold the values of Good Shepherd as a fully affirming congregation.

Key Responsibilities 

The primary areas of ministry focus will be pastoral care and newcomers. As Assistant Rector, you will also join the liturgy and preaching rotations along with contributing to the pastoral care ministries of the church.
