Job Description Summary
The Lead Systems Power Generation Engineer will have responsibility of managing requirements, executing development testing, and qualification testing of electrical power systems. In this role, you will help in certifying
electric power systems on commercial and military aircraft.
At GE Aviation in Dayton, OH the EPISCenter is the headquarters for all of Aviation Power Engineering. At this facility you have an opportunity to put your engineering training and skills to use. Our Engineers are focused and challenged on developing new technologies and delivering state of the art products such as Hybrid Electric aircraft, the latest military platforms, and SiC technology to name a few. Plus, if you like hands-on work, there is also a 155,000 sq ft lab that includes 6 high power test cells totaling 15 MW, an EMI chamber, an electronics lab, a rapid build prototype lab, and a real time simulator lab with all the latest equipment.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Utilize expertise to work with the customer in defining requirements • Work with hardware design leads in developing, allocating, validating, tracing, verifying, and documenting requirements
- Drive the development of system test plans and procedures
- Lead system test execution and analysis of test data
- Define safety of flight and qualification tests and ensure that critical safety aspects of electric system are tested and verified to enable flight test program
- Work with both real-time and non-real-time systems such as: hardware-in-the-loop and computer-in-the-loop simulations
- Support project estimation, budgeting, planning, and program reviews
- Assist in Model-Based Systems Engineering activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering role
- This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Desired Characteristics
- Model-Based Systems Engineering Experience
- Experience in requirements development, verification and validation of power generation systems • Experience with electrical power systems (Generator, Inverter, Converter), technical requirements, and certification requirements
- Experience with applicable engineering tools and systems (i.e. DOORs)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to contribute in a team environment
- Experience in program or project leadership in an engineering environment
- Experience of RTCA DO-178B/C, DO-254, SAE ARP4754A or similar rigorous development standard • Understanding of MIL-STD-704, DO-160, MIL-STD-810
