Job description
Position Summary: The Materials Manager uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Manages daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from the raw material location(s) to the final disposition/destination and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Monitors operations and troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Coordinates with procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Create and manage the materials control and pre-lam budget; including but not limited to warehousing, labor, and equipment.
- Monitor standard material control and planning procedures such as WO review, scheduling, supermarket and kanban sizing for efficiency and quality of throughput.
- Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company procedures.
- Develop and implement standard work within material control and planning functions.
- Communicate KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) from the strategic annual plan so that each associate is aware of expectations and deliverables.
- Communicates inventory status/issues for management and internal customers.
- Ensure full adherence to 5S practices at all times.
- Perform root cause analysis and problem resolutions.
- Maintains in-process inventory at work centers, supermarkets, and in Kan Ban ensuring full material availability.
- Secures warehouse contents against loss and/or damage.
- Communicate and connect with both executives, warehouse employees, and balance the demands of each.
- Work with supply chain management in the design of the "lean factory" and the pursuit of value stream improvements.
Other Important Responsibilities:
- Timely Corrective Action response and resolution to relevant project situations
- Engage and support companywide Safety and Cleanliness programs.
- Handle related email correspondence.
- Will be required to perform other job functions, as assigned.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Education, Certifications; High School Education a must, Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Supply Chain or related field.
- Experience managing teams of full-time and part-time employees.
- Experience in analyzing metrics and data-driven decision-making.
- Proven ability to design and execute a supply chain strategy.
- Proven ability to consistently deliver on KPIs.
- Technical and applied understanding of ERP systems
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Detail-oriented
- Multitasking capabilities
Physical qualifications and work environment:
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Must be able to sustain office work for 8+ hours per day including the following:
- Sitting in an office chair
- Typing
- Reaching for the telephone
- Standing at office equipment
- Hearing for phone use
- Sight for computer use
- Must be able to sustain factory work as needed including the following:
- Standing at machinery
- Reaching and pulling to operate machinery.
- Walking through shop
- Office environment is of moderate noise level.
- Shop noise levels are such that protective ear-coverings are recommended
