Seeking a Biomedical Software Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity with a renowned medical research consortium.
The role will be located onsite in the Bay Area, candidates must be willing to work onsite 4 days weekly to start, 2-3 days weekly once fully trained.
The Biomedical Software Engineer is responsible for executing several concurrent high visibility projects in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment that may cross multiple business divisions and clinical testing methodologies with the goal of improving the quality and effectiveness of patient care testing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with medical professionals such as other scientists, chemists and engineers on staff to develop lean clinical testing workflows
- Evaluate, test, design and integrate into laboratory processes new clinical laboratory technologies, products and software (chemistry analyzers, liquid handlers, pre- and post-analytical laboratory automation systems, middleware software systems). Ensure successful completion of system integration, testing and validation.
- Leverage medical informatics, statistics, and data analysis tools in support of complex medical decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's degree, MS preferred, in Biomedical or related engineering discipline (Bioengineering, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering), or Computer Science with emphasis on Bioinformatics is a necessity. Strong foundation in engineering principles (mechatronics and biomedical systems), software development, and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Minimum 10 years' experience with systems integration, engineering or informatics discipline. Direct experience in a clinical laboratory, IVD, or related healthcare environment considered a plus.
- Proven experience with Microsoft .NET or related software development technologies.
- Able to identify and compile system requirements from discussion with business representatives and end-users.
- Familiar with AutoCAD, Visio, or similar CAD tools to generate facility, equipment, and work center layouts to analyze and communicate space planning relationships and constraints.
