Job description
Our client, a global SaaS provider, is looking for a highly competent and detail-oriented Vice President & Controller to lead our accounting department and oversee all financial operations. As the Controller, you will be responsible for managing the accounting team, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. Your expertise in accounting principles, processes, and reporting will play a critical role in supporting the organization's financial success and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Accounting Management: Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll. Manage a team in India. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions and records.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards.
- Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity. Regularly assess the effectiveness of controls and propose enhancements as necessary.
- Audit and Compliance: Coordinate and support annual external audit and ensure compliance with accounting regulations and reporting requirements. Address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
- Taxation and Regulatory Compliance: Oversee tax-related activities, including filings in the US, India, Australia, Canada and the UK, including accurate and timely tax filings. Stay up-to-date on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Cash Management: Monitor cash flow and cash position, ensuring adequate liquidity for operational needs. Work with the treasury team to optimize cash management strategies.
- System Enhancements: Collaborate with other finance team members to enhance accounting systems and reporting tools. Leverage technology to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to maximize team performance. Work with other finance team members and operational departments leaders to support execution of the Company’s business strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or CPA qualification is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Controller, Director of Accounting, or similar role.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP/IFRS standards.
- Familiarity with internal controls, risk management practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in NetSuite or other accounting software and ERP systems.
- Experience working in countries outside the US, especially India.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
