Special Education Teacher
Mosaic Group, LLC, a leading provider of ABA services in Virginia, provides life-changing behavioral therapy to children with autism. Our mission is to expand the reach of our services to touch the lives of more children and their families. Mosaic is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to join our growing team.
Responsibilities:
- Develops Individual Educational Plan (IEP) and ensures accommodations are provided
- Creates and implements differentiated lesson plans based on students’ academic level, capabilities, and testing requirements of the student under Virginia SOL's
- Adheres of guidance and regulations under IDEA and VDOE
- Identifies the need for, administration of, and the documentation of educational assessments
- Reviews incoming student IEPs and updates goals as needed 30 days after enrollment
- Continually analyzes student progress through formal and informal assessments, classroom observation, and collection of academic work
- Completes IEP report cards and progress reports
- Collaborates with clinical supervisors on student’s behavior goals and ABA interventions
- Attends weekly student case reviews
- Attends eligibility, IEP, and transition meetings as necessary
- Responsible for preparing and conducting bi-monthly parent/teacher meetings and preparing process summaries for review by Education Coordinator
- Administer VAAP testing as needed
- Ensures professional growth as appropriate to instructional assignment.
- Performs related duties as assigned
Other Duties:
- Implement the human resources policies, procedures and practices of VA-ABC
- Ensuring the safety and care of our students, cleanliness, health and overall wellbeing, making referrals as necessary for additional services a family may need
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding all client and personnel information connected with Virginia Autism and Behavior Consulting. Performs other duties as assigned
- Responsible for overseeing orderliness of assigned center location including but not limited to: completion of cleaning checklists, adding tasks to cleaning checklist as needed, enforcing dress code & ensuring appropriate level of hygiene in school based setting for all students and staff. Notification of any disruption to appropriate hygiene level should be given to Director immediately.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education. Master’s degree preferred but not required
- Current Virginia Postgraduate Professional License in Special Education with an endorsement in A daptive Curriculum (General Curriculum Pre-K - 12 would also be considered) OR be eligible for a Provisional License in Special Education Adaptive Curriculum
- Advanced training and/or experience in special education and a basic knowledge of the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis
- Certification in Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid
- 2+ years’ experience with students with emotional disabilities and/or autism is preferred, but not required
- Successful completion of criminal background history and central registry background investigations as outlined in Virginia Autism and Behavior Consulting’s policy manual
Preferred skills and knowledge include:
- Excellent organization and problem-solving skills
- Experience with children with developmental disabilities
- Able to work in a team setting
- Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Excellent interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication skills
Physical Requirements:
- Able to drive a motor vehicle, move up to 35lbs, be able to physically move for up to 8 hours a day in 3- hour blocks including climbing stairs.
Working Conditions:
- Duties performed indoors in clinic, home, or school environment.
