Job description
One of our food processing clients in Brandon , MB is looking for an Shift Engineer (2nd Class) for their service.
Shift: 12hr Rotation
Responsibilities:
The powerhouse equipment includes a water treatment system comprising softeners, chemical feed systems, and a condensate return system.
Ensure a continuous supply of steam, electricity, refrigeration, air, and water to the process is maintained at all times.
Operate the plant air system, which involves managing three compressors and a heated regenerative desiccant air dryer.
Coordinate with another shift for the operation and inspection of the heating and ventilation system.
Regularly monitor and conduct inventory checks on powerhouse equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
Conduct necessary tests on equipment and systems, such as water treatment, oil sampling, and boiler controls, to ensure the functionality of all safety systems at all times.
Promptly report any problems or significant needs to the relieving shift personnel for attention. Maintain a logbook as required by the Operating Engineer's Act.
Exercise control and authorization over any work or testing during shift operations.
Take responsibility for the safe operation of the power plant and all work activities within the plant during the shift.
Qualifications & Requirements:
A Power Engineer Second Class certification is mandatory.
1 to 5 years of experience in power plant operation as a 2nd class is required.
Thorough understanding of good practices and safe operation of a power plant.
Proficient computer skills with standard software (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook).
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with flexibility.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Previous work experience in boiler, ammonia refrigeration, steam, and power distribution.
Previous experience with PLC is considered an asset.
