Amazon is building the next generation software, hardware, and processes that will run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory, and ensure that customers get what they want when we promised. We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well, while relying on people to handle things that humans do well. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of products and packages which includes building custom hardware and applying robotics, supply chain optimization, machine learning, manipulation, image processing, and real-time data processing using distributed systems.

The WW Technology Deployment (TD) org is seeking a talented and results-oriented Technical Program Manager (TPM) to develop novel deployment processes for NPI technologies introduced by Amazon Robotics. Your work typically focuses on developing baseline deployment targets (cycle times, person hours) based on business requirements, optimizing product design for at scale deploy-ability, and delivering a comprehensive deployment playbook for the technology you are working on that prescribes process across the Site Readiness, Installation, Commissioning and Hand-Over phases of deployment. You will work across TD, AR and cross-functional organizations to drive optimized deploy-ability, requirements gathering and robust deployment solution development.

Ability to travel as much as 50% to support deployment projects.

Key job responsibilities
• Demonstrate ownership by acting as the Deployment technology expert during pre-General Availability phases (concept, Alpha and Beta)
• Guide the development of deployment critical product metrics to track throughout the product development cycle
• Use your knowledge of industry best practices in Design for Deployment, ergonomics, and industrial automation/robotic safety, you generate design requirements for equipment installation to the engineering teams during the concept/alpha/beta phases of product development
• Work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities. You use your strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, track, and deliver multiple deliverables on-time at a high quality
• Use 3D CAD software to simulate deployment processes and to propose/validate design changes, and reduce deployment process failures/risks through use of PFMEA/DFMEA
• Develop robust deployment processes and work instructions; with the goal of delivering a comprehensive deployment playbook to your customer. The end-goal being a reliable/repeatable deployment process that meets safety and business metrics.
• Continuously deep dive data to monitor technology deployment processes for defects and implement poka-yoka solutions to promote ease of installation and prevent future recurrence.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams. You use this ability to provide program level reports to your manager and skip-level manager.

A day in the life
In this role you will be focused on technology deployment process development and improvement for large-scale implementation. You will be expected to collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program and product managers, and internal customers including site maintenance and operations teams, to ensure the product you are deploying, is both ready for deployment and capable of achieving the business requirements. You will travel to deployment sites to take a hands-on approach to process development and also collaborate both virtually and in-person to ensure all business stakeholders are aligned on current deployability status and future glide path. You will spend time with mentors and your manager to develop your professional skills, and collaborate amongst your team to move the needle on the services you are accountable for. You will focus your efforts on developing a comprehensive deployment playbook that will meet safety and business requirements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- 3+ years of experience working with the design and installation planning for complex sortation, material handling equipment, and/or systems including robotics
