THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION BUT CANDIDATE MUST LIVE IN MINNESOTA .
Senior Director of IT provides strategic oversight of the technology used to support all aspects of Ampact’s national business, including its AmeriCorps members. This role collaborates with executive leadership as a strategic team member to provide in-depth technical expertise in support of business decisions. This position is responsible for ensuring successful management of the internal IT staff, overseeing the performance of outsourced IT services, implementing best practices and optimizing infrastructure, security, costs, and system(s) performance.
The Senior Director of IT collaborates and partners with stakeholders across the organization and must be an outstanding communicator conveying technically complex information and concepts in easily understood terms to business stakeholders. The Senior Director of IT will think strategically, critically, and creatively to present optimal technological solutions across the organization. The Senior Director of IT must possess deep technical expertise and be an experienced transformational leader.
- Develops and operationalizes information technology strategies and implementation of an IT roadmap. Recommends short- and long-term IT goals and solutions to advance the mission of the organization.
- Leads the deployment of strategic plans. Acquires and enables efficient and cost-effective information processing and technology solutions for the organization.
- Develops security policies and procedures that help ensure systems and data are free from threat or breach.
- Provides expert and strategic advice to members of the leadership team on all technology matters affecting the organization.
- Accountable for the development of a team of IT professionals, leading them to meet or exceed expectations for productivity, quality, and achievement.
- Establishes a culture that enables IT professionals to focus on business alignment, accountability for outcomes, and continuous improvement. Drives transformational change and innovation while balancing business, infrastructure, and technology needs.
- Ensures key business strategies and processes are supported by technology systems that enable growth and flexibility.
- Provides leadership and guidance to the IT department to achieve secure, reliable, and cost-effective operations of IT infrastructure and applications.
- Effectively establish and manage the IT budget. Seeks and evaluates emerging technologies and educate business stakeholders on the potential for new technologies to deliver return on investment by enabling business innovation and efficiencies.
- Directs and manages capital projects to ensure target dates, milestones, and budget expectations are met.
- Accountable for IT vendor relations to ensure services and suppliers are delivering high value to the organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of IT team.
- Ensure development or augmentation of staff to ensure technology needs and support requirements are met.
- Provide leadership to develop the acumen of the IT team to ensure they are skilled and appropriately proficient to manage and support current and future technological solutions.
Minimum Education
- Bachelors degree in relevant field such as Information Technology or Computer Science
- Graduate-level training in IT or CS related preferred.
- Project Management certification preferred. Can be substituted for experience.
Minimum Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience managing and/or directing an IT organization, or relevant experience.
- Proven experience in IT strategic planning, development, project management, and policy development with the ability to lead IT through competing priorities and organizational evolution.
- Substantial technical experience with system design, development, and maintenance across any or all aspects of typical software lifecycles, from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management and support.
- Knowledge of business processes, management, budgeting, and office operations.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and help set goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated ability in solving business problems by integrating contemporary technology.
- Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
- Strong strategic and critical thinking skills. An innovative thinker with strong initiative, demonstrated flexibility, and proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving
- Demonstrated strong business acumen and consultative skills. Ability to influence others at all levels within the Confident with the development of new strategies and in the occasional hands on execution of high level strategic initiatives.
- Proven people and business leadership skills.
- Experience in assessing and strategizing the use of technology to meet and modernize business needs and utilize existing and emerging technology in support of the organization.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail. Continually evaluates and improves processes and procedures.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and drive IT deliverables in a quickly evolving organization.
- Proven leadership skills with experience creating a collaborative environment.
- Effective use of written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with people /groups within and outside of the organization, including system users, colleagues, and partners at varying levels of the organization and levels of technical knowledge.
- Exceptional relational and listening skills including the ability to solve problems proactively, and exercise sound
- Ability to clearly and concisely present technical ideas in ways that are easily understood by everyone in the organization, in cooperation with employees and stakeholders.
