Department Overview
The Enterprise Data Management (EDM) team enables data governance, quality, and metadata management capabilities to maximize the use and ensure the trustworthiness of PG&E’s critical data assets.
Position Summary
The Data Lifecycle Product Owner drives excellence in managing data from creation to disposition, ensuring its integrity, security, and usability throughout its lifecycle. This critical role oversees products and tooling used to support data management activities across PG&E, including metadata management and data quality. The Data Lifecycle Product Owner is instrumental in ensuring business needs for capturing and storing data are defined and met for PG&E’s most critical data assets.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $147,000
Bay Area Maximum: $251,000
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and articulate a compelling vision for our data lifecycle management strategy, associated tooling, and aligning it with the organization's overall objectives
- Develop and own a roadmap for data management tooling, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of the organization
- Prioritize a backlog of metadata management and data quality requirements against the roadmap, continuously evaluating and revising to meet the needs of the organization
- Participate in product release planning as part of a cross-functional team and set stakeholder expectations for the delivery of new functionality
- Act as the primary liaison for metadata management and data quality feature requests between lines of business and IT solution delivery teams
- Architect and design the structures, workflows, and roles required to serve the enterprise strategy for metadata and data quality management
- Define metadata management KPIs and reporting requirements in partnership with Enterprise Data Management team and business stakeholders
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing, feature demonstrations, and hands-on walkthrough sessions with business stakeholders
- Manage user groups and permissions, community and domain structures, and other default configurations
- Provide training, metadata review and remediation, mediated bulk ingests, best practices documentation and guidance
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
- 7 years experience in data management, data governance, data quality, metadata management, data privacy, and/or designing and implementing functional systems and data in a structured process
Desired:
- B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, information technology, business administration, engineering, or other relevant field required
- 4+ years of leadership experience
- Experience in energy or regulated industries
- Detail-oriented with ability to focus on managing multiple reports and processes
- Even-tempered, manages conflicts in a positive manner, and comfortable interacting with individuals at all levels
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with proven ability to establish and cultivate relationships with vendors and business SMEs
- Experience with data governance and metadata management solutions
- Experience as project manager or product owner
- Experience with relevant project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Design thinking, Kanban, etc.).
- Demonstrated executive engagement and presentation skills
