JOB SUMMARY
Our Prep Cooks prepare cold items served out of the kitchen for our busy restaurant, event space and catering company. This includes sandwiches, charcuterie boards, a huge selection of salads and so much more. The ideal Prep Cook cares about the details, ensures the processes are followed, remains calm in the face of multiple complicated orders and can be flexible when there are last minute updates or guest count changes. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Efficiently prepares food items as needed.
- Exercises food safety and kitchen sanitation practices in to deliver a quality product.
- Weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients according to recipes.
- Properly prepares meat, cheese, fruit and vegetable trays.
- Reviews daily assignments included in Banquet Event Orders
- Plans for anticipated demand based on the BEOs.
- Able to plan, organize and prioritize salad and cold banquet needs.
- Maintains cleanliness and working order of work area, tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Prepares and maintains the salad bar and par levels as required by current demands.
- Keeps walk in cooler/freezer organized.
- Monthly, and weekly inventories, temp logs and waste logs.
- Assist with ordering necessary items.
Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation for this position ranges from $18 to $20 per hour, paid biweekly, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition, employees receive benefits such as paid time off, discounted hotel rooms, and opportunities for career development within the hospitality industry.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of food items according to recipes and standardized procedures
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the quality and safety of food items
- Properly store and label all food items to maintain freshness and avoid cross-contamination
- Maintain a clean and organized work station, including equipment and storage areas
- Collaborate with other kitchen team members to ensure timely and efficient service to guests
- Communicate effectively with the front of house team to ensure accurate and timely meal service
- Follow any special dietary needs or requests from guests and ensure all dietary restrictions are met
- Assist in inventory management and ordering of food supplies as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or chefs to meet the needs of the kitchen and hotel operations
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a prep cook or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Time management and organization skills
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
