MC: PACS (Full-time, Variable) -

The PACS Administrator (Picture Archiving & Communication System) performs the day-to-day operations and maintenance of PACS. Coordinates film digitizing and CD processing activities. Administers clinical operations of PACS, including user accounts, documentation of procedures, definition and implementation. Maintains integrity of PACS security, training and trouble-shooting and problem follow-up. Alerts clinical staff and leadership about issues regarding system availability or changes. Performs needs assessment to determine training needs. Evaluates, selects and implements training programs according to user needs. Evaluates effectiveness of training through methods of assessment. Designs and implements quality improvement procedures pertinent to QI problem-solving strategies and tools for problem identification and analysis for target areas for improvements. Develops user feedback mechanisms through reporting tools and/or survey methods. Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures for user system management. Assess imaging modality capabilities. Oversee modality integration such as DICOM configuration; DICOM validation; DICOM transfers syntax and DICOM tools. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.

Understanding of Radiology operations; PACS, RIS, voice recognition systems, ancillary reporting systems and their functionality and how they interact with other hospital information systems. Knowledge of federal, state, local regulations that pertain to records retention, confidentiality and release of medical records. Knowledge and medical terminology. Proficient with Windows operating system, SQL, UNIX, HL7 interfaces, DICOM connectivity, crystal reports. Ability to manipulate and troubleshoot computer hardware related issues associated with Imaging workflow related systems. Must be capable of dealing effectively and ethically with a variety of personnel such as technologist, physicians, nurses, students and support staff. Strong oral and written communication skills: Must be able to work in a stressful, fast pace environment. Abilities to multitask prioritize and assess situations and improvise strategies to overcome obstacles as they arise. Strategic vision, strong analytical skills, ability to work under pressure, remain calm and lead others at all times. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Must be able to use a computer keyboard and mouse. Must have visual acuity to identify and related to image objects. Must have verbal ability to interact with others both personally and on the phone.
