As the Portland Footwear Development Intern, your primary responsibility will be to assist the development team in research, competitor analysis, managing local fit and wear testing protocols, and seasonal footwear development processes. You will work collaboratively and efficiently with the greater Design/Materials/PM teams to coordinate your own assigned projects as well as self-initiated work.
Your mission - Support Footwear Developers in creating and executing products based on our creative briefs
- Help collate information on development-specific target data in regard to the On sustainability roadmap in line with our strategy
- Maintain and manage local fit and wear testing database and testing functions
- Support the coordination of footwear lab physical and biomechanical testing
- Support data management of footwear quality, prices and production lead times into the PLM systems. Update database accordingly
- Research and analyze new technologies and feedback to the wider group
- Liaise with all working level Product Developers, Footwear Design, Product - Management, Material Innovation, Sustainability, Supply Chain as well as the Testing team
- Ability to communicate cross culturally with international based teammates
- Demonstrate a self-initiating and agile workflow between briefed projects and whitespace opportunities
Your story - Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, Design or related field ideally from a global leading university
- Affinity for shoe making and technology, with a key awareness of sustainability both within the industry and analogous industries
- Understanding of the industry’s processes and eagerness to learn proactively as well as with full team support
- Collaborative spirit with diverse stakeholders as well as superior communication skills (verbal and written English)
- Able to balance creativity with organization and discipline in a fast-paced environment
- Talent to deal with change and bring entrepreneurial spirit when facing unexpected challenges
