Job description
This role supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which is responsible for ensuring the safety of 45,000 flights and 3 million passengers traversing over 28 million miles of U.S. controlled airspace every day. A critical part of that mission is to support technical network systems which connect air traffic information across the FAAs National Airspace System and with other government agencies.
Our client is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Network Engineer with significant experience planning, designing, and evaluating new and existing computer network systems and services. This role will support the FAAs NAS Defense Program Office.
This position will be located onsite at the FAAs Air Route Traffic Control Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

Position Functions & Skills:
- Plan, design, and evaluate new and existing computer network systems and services, with a focus on cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Manage enterprise-level IP networks, including LAN, WAN, and WLAN design and implementation, ensuring compliance with NIST 800-53 and 800-171 standards.
- Apply routing and switch design principles to optimize network performance while addressing NIST requirements.
- Design, implement, manage, and support enterprise-level IP networks to meet FAAs operational requirements, incorporating cybersecurity frameworks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address network infrastructure needs while considering cybersecurity implications.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, NIST standards, and other cybersecurity requirements in network design and implementation.
Requirements
Required Education, Skills & Capabilities:
- B.S. in an engineering, information systems, or related discipline (Cisco Certified Network Professional, plus 5 additional years of experience could be substituted for a bachelors degree)
- 8-10 years of experience in cybersecurity and networking roles.
- Proficiency in NIST 800-53 and 800-171 standards.
- Compliance and monitoring experience, ensuring adherence to cybersecurity standards.
- Expertise in drafting, reviewing, and interpreting NIST documentation.
- Ability to develop frameworks and provide support to network design in response to NIST requirements.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of network security protocols and technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communications
- Excellent collaboration and problem solving skills
- Experience conducting research for technical systems
- Applicants must be United States citizens in order to qualify for this position, as candidates will be required to obtain a Secret level clearance
