Job description
Outstanding opportunity for a proven sales management professional with expertise selling industrial products into the power utility sector to drive sales strategy and growth, develop sales processes, and provide hands-on leadership to deliver world-class customer service.
The qualified candidate will possess a sales hunter mentality and be a dynamic leader with deep sales and marketing expertise in the Power Utility Industry and a demonstrated record of growing revenue and developing high performance teams.
The Vice President of Sales will work remotely and must live near a major international airport to travel as needed to company and key customer locations. Due to customer proximity, preference will be given to candidates residing in the north central United States, Texas, or California.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop a strong understanding of current product lines.
- Hire, develop, and lead a team of high performing outside sales managers and inside customer service representatives.
- Execute and build on the company’s commercial strategy to deliver sustainable profitable growth. Establish and achieve annual and monthly sales objectives in coordination with the company’s business plan.
- Develop strategic account plans for the company’s largest customers to grow share of wallet and secure revenue with multi-year contracts.
- Develop a channel management plan that leverages the company’s distributor relationships to expand reach.
- Develop a sales process and pipeline management system that brings structure, focus, accountability, and best practice sharing to the team.
- Personally lead efforts to develop executive level relationships with end customers and distributors. Regularly travel to visit customers and distributors. Some international travel may be required throughout the Americas.
- Partner with the finance team to develop a set of monthly metrics that improve visibility to the performance of the team’s efforts such as growth by customer, share of wallet by customer, win rates, quota attainment, average profit margin, etc.
- Partner with the BU leadership on pricing and bundling strategies.
- Lead the customer service team and bring a fanatical focus on the customer. Develop KPI’s to track customer satisfaction and other critical metrics.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to simplify the transactional processes within the Customer Service department, freeing up more of the team’s time to serve customers.
- Establish and implement sales training programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-focused or engineering discipline required. MBA a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in progressive sales roles and a demonstrated record of success in sales management and selling industrial products to electric utilities, proven leadership and motivation of others, and previous P&L responsibility required.
