Content Strategist
Full-time (37.5 hours per week), exempt
Starting Salary Range: $115,000 – $120,000
Onsite; eligible for relocation assistance
The Job
The content strategist works within a collaborative, cross-divisional environment to develop and put into practice strategies for the planning, creation, management, and storage of curatorial content and adult programming as it is produced for and accessed across museum platforms by the public. This position reports to the Deputy Director and Chief Curator and works closely with curators as well as representatives from the Audience Division. The content strategist also supervises the Head of Interactive Media Department and the Digital Print Specialist.
In this role, you will….
1. Permanent Collections Content
· With the appropriate curator, coordinate the development, management, and presentation of content associated with Mia’s permanent collection
2. Special Exhibitions Content
· With the appropriate curator, coordinate the development, management, and presentation of content associated with Mia’s permanent collection
3. Organize and lead monthly meetings (Content Team) of Curatorial, Audience, Visitor Experience and Advancement to orchestrate planning, scheduling, production, and dissemination of museum content.
4. Supervise Label & Signage Production Specialist
· Oversee prioritization of projects.
· Oversee budgets and policy/procedure development and adherence.
· Oversee the establishment of standards of performance and evaluates performance to aid in attainment of goals.
5. Supervise Head of Interactive Media
· Oversee prioritization of projects.
· Oversee budgets and policy/procedure development and adherence.
To be successful in this role…
You are highly organized, able to handle multiple priorities and interruptions, and can monitor and track projects to keep team members informed of deadlines. You have excellent written communication skills and a high degree of accuracy.
Specific Requirements
Education: MA in Art History/Humanities or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience:
· 5 years of museum experience with a successful track record as a manager and project leader
· Proven editorial and storytelling skills
· Ability to multitask and prioritize in response to institutional goals
· Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, and to build positive, professional relationships with all levels of staff, trustees, and the public
· Ability to think like an educator, understanding what the museum visitor needs to know and how they want to consume it
· A willingness to embrace change and to intelligently adapt strategies
· Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and project management software such as Asana.
