SAIC is seeking an experienced Systems Test Engineer to provide scientific analysis and test planning support for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Office. The primary responsibilities of this position are to author Analysis Plans, Test Plans, and Test Reports. These responsibilities require the application of analytical, statistical, and systems engineering skills and knowledge of radiation detection systems.
This is a remote position, but will require occasional attendance in office around the DMV area. This individual must be local to the DMV area. Travel may be up to 15% at times.
Responsibilities:
Collaborating with DHS components to plan and execute test events.
Authoring technical documents which clearly detail test event analysis methods, test procedures, and reporting of results.
Identifying, tracking, and managing both schedules and risks within the CWMD testing process.
Developing test and analysis tools which accurately and efficiently process and display data meaningfully.
Using statistical design of experiment methods to develop test plans and procedures.
Supporting development of test briefs, daily reports, and summary reports.
Identifying and executing test process improvement strategies.
Travel to support test events.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field and 6 years relevant experience.
Experience in systems engineering process management.
Data analysis experience in test and evaluation or related field (system engineering, data analytics, test documentation development, data mining, and/or modeling and simulation).
Able to use analytical/statistical tools to optimize test designs, determine sample sizes, and model performance.
Can analyze large amounts of test data and display results in a meaningful way (graphics, tables, diagrams, etc.).
Experience using common analysis/visual software suites and programming languages. Examples include but are not limited to MATLAB, LabVIEW, MS-Excel, Command Line Interfaces, SQL, and Python.
Able to work both independently and within dynamic team environments.
Excellent written, communication, presentation, and technical skills.
Can travel to provide on-site test support.
Desired Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of radiological/nuclear material detectors.
