Job description
Kelly is looking for a Formulation Chemist to work with our client who focuses on developing specialty additives that support the production and performance of waterborne polymer dispersions and Coatings formulations. The utility of these materials allows for them to be applied in a wide range of end use markets such as coatings, adhesives, inks, and construction materials. A major focus in this area is directed towards supporting the development of more environmentally friendly materials with improved sustainability, such as lower volatile organic compound (VOC) content.

While working under the guidance of senior chemists and within established procedures, the candidates will conduct routine as well as complex research laboratory activities in the product development and customer support. The individual will provide support to the senior chemists in the research and development process, as well as provide assistance with information /data management activities and analysis of results.
The candidate will also have the opportunity to assist the senior chemists in developing structure-property correlations to identify key performance trends to guide future work in both emulsion polymerization and coating formulations. The primary working areas for the candidate will be formulation and performance testing for waterborne architectural and industrial coatings.
Key Responsibilities
Ensures safety as core principle-working in a safe manner including safe chemical handling and wearing required personal protective equipment.
Plans daily activities, follows SOPs or detailed instructions;
Brings observations, unexpected results, summarizes data and helps analyzing results with senior chemists
Maintains appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments
Maintains routine lab equipment calibrations
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Organic Chemistry, or a related discipline
Associates degree in Chemistry and 2 years of experience
0-2 years of experience
Ability to commute to the site daily M-F
Training will be provided the first few weeks after start date.
This role is a 6 -12 month contract.
