Position Specific Description Palms Insurance is NextEra Energy, Inc.’s wholly-owned insurance subsidiary that provides coverage for both affiliated and non-affiliated insurance risks. The Palms finance team is an integral part of developing strategy for managing risk and executing on growth initiatives. We are seeking a dynamic and ambitious accountant who enjoys operating in an evolving environment with a diverse and growing book of business. Key responsibilities include the following:
- Prepare monthly journal entries
- Prepare and maintain monthly premium billings and invoice payment logs
- Perform account reconciliations in key accounts
- Review and run reports in SAP
- Prepare financial statements for statutory filings
- Assist finance team with ad-hoc reporting, including research and actual vs forecast analysis
- Participate in the development and delivery of continuously improving reports to management
- CPA Preferred
- Insurance industry experience preferred
Job Overview Employees in this role assist in researching, analyzing and reporting on issues that affect the company, recommending possible solutions, and assisting with the follow-up activities to resolve them.
Job Duties & Responsibilities - Prepares financial reports in a timely manner that are in compliance with GAAP and accurately reflect the financial status of the company
- Assures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls
- Independently prepares schedules and journal entries
- Keeps abreast of and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relative company policies, practices and procedures
- Performs other job-related duties as assignedRequired Qualifications

- Experience: 2+ years
